My Poor Drowned Rat
Sit. Rep.: irritated
I've just spent the last 45 minutes trying to convince my cat that a bath is a good thing. He definitely did not agree. He's soaked... my bathroom is soaked... I'm soaked...
I discovered fleas on him last night, so bought a flea shampoo and comb tonight. I'm concerned about it because he wouldn't sit still so the rinse off was less than thorough and now he's grooming... I'm really hoping he's not ingesting any of the shampoo.
I managed to get at least three fleas actually off of him, with my fingers, and the comb, but after the shampoo I still saw two more running around on him.
Oh, yeah. He's an indoor cat. Still trying to figure out where the fleas came from. A month ago, my bf's roommate's cats had fleas (also indoor cats... they think they got them from the neighbour's dog). They had a hard time getting them out of the house, so I think maybe what happened was that either he or I transported on our clothes or selves from his house to mine a flea, or an egg that then latched on to my poor, unassuming kitty.
I can't help feeling sorry for the boy, he's an indoor cat so he's not even supposed to come into contact with fleas, and now he's got them. He had to have a bath, and he's been throwing up hairballs for the last three days because of excessive grooming trying to relieve the itch. He had the softest fur ever, never used a single product on it before... now it'll probably never be quite the same :(
And of course, poor me haha. Trying to bathe a cat with claws that's never been immersed in water before? Not pleasant. Laundering every single article of bedding and clothing in my room... not fun. Spraying carpets and furniture with insect repellent? Not the best.
I just hope we get rid of the pests!
